
有过在加拿大找工作经验的同学都知道,面试后应该立即给面试你的hiring manager写一个Thank-You Letter,再次推销自己。一封漂亮的Thank-You Letter,可以使你从众多应聘者当中脱颖而出,不仅有利于加强hiring manager对你的信心,有时还能在面试后起到“扭转局面”的作用,成为你获得职位的关键因素。

然而,据一项调查显示,57%的候选人在面试后并没有发Thank-you Email的习惯;即使面试官对此还抱有期待,有86%的面试官表示,面试后很很少收到Thank-you Email,他们认为候选人并没有没有跟进面试;甚至有56%的面试官表示候选人对这个职位的申请并不认真。
留学生最适合在面试后发Thank-you Email
写Thank-you Email的主题是感谢面试官给予这次难得的面试机会(并借机二次推销自己) ,因此在一堆背景相同的竞争者中,如果你的Thank-you Email写的好,能够面试官增加对你的好感,加深对你的印象,以便能顺利拿到offer。
留学生英文口语大多比Native Speakers弱,为了弥补面试中口语表达的不足,就更应该重视这个面试后的Thank-You Email,这也是整个面试礼仪的很重要的一部分。一封漂亮的Thank-you Email,可以使你从众多面试者中脱颖而出,不仅有利于加强你的面试官对你的认可,甚至还能在面试后起到“扭转局面”的作用,成为你获得Offer的关键因素。
然而,大部分求职者的Thank-You Email都有几个通病:

这样的Thank-you Email不如不写,因为它可能产生面试官对你的负面影响,觉得你不专业、不知道轻重,连这么简单的邮件都不懂的写,反而扣分。一位加拿大知名企业的招聘官说,每逢招聘季,他们都会收到不少这种“有问题”的Thank-you Email或是Thank-you Note(手写邮寄),而他们基本上不会读完,甚至直接把纸质档扔进垃圾桶。
一封能够充分展现自己,并且不会让面试官觉得乏味的Thank-you Email,到底怎么写?这既不能套用固定模版,又需要根据你面试的具体情况进行调整。

如何写出能拯救面试结果的Thank-you Email
跟平常的Email-样,你需要一个客套的开头。 这个开头并不用太长,大概两到三句感谢的话就足够了。目的除了为了表现出基本礼貌以外,更重要的是提醒收件人你是在哪里跟他见面和交谈的。

重申你的强项和优势
Thank-you email能够让面试官更加明确,你的强项和素质是如何跟应聘岗位和公司的招募需求吻合。你可以在信中,展现出你对该职位及其职责范围的理解,并且有信心能完成对方或是你未来老板的工作要求。
然后根据你所申请岗位的Job description ,你可以在此针对性“促销”你的软技能( communication skills, personal skills etc. )和硬技能(技术软件操作能力、相关实践经历等等)。如同在面试中回答behavioral questions一样,在推销自己时可以举一个简短例子。

展现跟对方吻合的理念和价值观
大部分跨国企业,面试者非常多,而到了面试那关可能每个人拥有的软硬技能、经验也差不多,单凭简历上的信息是不够区分优秀人才。但是,你可以透过展示你的理念、工作方式、你的价值观、你的独特经验等方面,真诚表达你已经在思考如何为公司所在招募中的团队提供你独有的价值。
你可以利用在面试对话中发现的招聘官或是你未来老板的共同之处,更深一步地沟通感情、建立rapport。 共同之处可以是shared vision、philosophy、 workstyle等等。
同时,如果对方(面试官)在面试中提及到他的工作成绩或事业成就,你可以在邮件里表示赞赏,证明你有认真听他的分享,这样的认可也可以让他对你留下一个好的印象。但记得要发自真诚,恰到好处。切忌说过头话。让对方对你产生一种感情上的共鸣,这样可以使其在作招聘决定时选择你。

“挽救”面试中的不足表现
对自我感觉在面试中发挥不太理想的人来说,写好Thank-you email无异于给了自己二次面试的机会。这里指的表现不好,不是指你忘了带笑容,忘了跟对方握手的仪态上的个别问题,而是因为个人原因在整个面试中没有一个良好的状态。
如果你在面试中对于某个问题有不懂的回答或是回答有错误,你也可以在面试后寻查解答方法,然后简单提及一下你会如何解答面试中的一条问题。这样能在此展现你的积极性,展现你在工作场景中力求把被安排给你的任务完成好的一种态度。

结尾
这封邮件的结尾需要显现出你的自信和乐观。大胆点地说说你很期待能够见面或者是能参观他们office的机会,这样的话收件人会在你的言语中感受到你的自信和对他们公司的热忱。最后不要忘记表达自己很期待下一次见面。

Thank-you Email应该发给谁?
你可能会说,当然是面试官咯。(是的,但不仅仅是发给面试官。)正确操作:每次面试之后,请向面试过程中的每个人都发送一封Thank-you Email。
当然也有例外,比如你参加的是Phone Interview或者Skype Interview,在这种情况下,可以在面试之后发送一封感谢信给大家。但是,如果你没有每个人的邮件地址呢?发送一封邮件向给你面试邮箱的HR,并在底部附一段留言,请对方将邮件转发给在场的其他人。
应该在什么时候发Thank-you Email?
你应该在结束面试后的24-48小时内发送一封Thank-you Email,以提醒面试官注意回顾你的面试结果。

如果你的面试在早上,你可以在当天的End of day之前发;

如果你的面试在下午,你可以在第二天(business day)的早上发,确保对方可以上班第一时间看到;

如果你的面试在周五下午,最好也是当天晚上就发出去,免得等到周一隔太久(有些Recruiter可能周末也会查看邮件)。
注意: 一定使用跟你简历上面同样的名字和邮箱去发,这样可以快速让对方辨识你是哪位应聘者。如果你在面试中接触的人比较多,记得在面试时索要对方的名片,这样你就不必到处搜索他们的邮箱地址了。
